From the publisher: This paper primarily addresses discussion in small classes that meet one or more times a week. This paper provides many suggestions for promoting discussion sessions as part of a lecture class, since discussions are an effective way to get students to actively process what they learn in lectures.

Although the author addresses classes at the college level, many of the ideas he proposes apply with students at any age or level.
