Equation Town

“Equation Town” is a system I created for a junior high student who had significant difficulty following the order of operations for solving basic equations. He had already had Semple Math, so he was familiar with stories as mnemonics for math steps. I started with the most basic equations and taught him those steps, then built up to equations with parentheses and exponents. The system sounds very complex if you just read through the document; however, if you start with a basic equation and use all the parts of the story that apply, it should work out. Then try it with a more complex equation.
