We have developed 2 spreadsheets that teachers use at our school. The
majority of our curriculum is CLE so we record grades as 10 units per year.
The first spreadsheet is very basic and is called a Gradebook; each teacher can use one for her class. It is used to record assignments, quizzes, and tests as part of a unit for all students in the class. It is very easy to assign different weightings to various assignments. It then produces Unit grades for the student. Obviously it is also useful for comparing students’ performance, checking class averages and even trends on specific assignments.
The main record keeping though is our Student Academic Records which uses a complex spreadsheet one of our staff designed. Each student is assigned one file which contains tabs for all 12 years of school. The format is similar to a CLE report card (4 quarters of 9 weeks each) this is where we record the unit grades. Come report card day, this just gets printed off. These files are all on a central computer/ server for all staff to access. Additionally these files include a comprehensive transcript record that summarizes the content of the report cards. It calculates credits earned in high school, etc.
Both of these resources I could share. The academic Record file would be at a small cost. If interested email [email protected].
