I’m looking for a good typing/keyboarding program for our high school. We currently are using Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, but it’s getting dated and has some weird quirks. I’ve heard good things about Typing Instructor Platinum. I’m looking for something that will keep track of time spent typing as well as the ability to set goals (in wpm). I also would be interested in hearing what requirements other Mennonite schools have for typing (how many hours for 1 credit and so on), what grades they start teaching typing, etc.
Thanks
In the past we have used both edutyping.com and typing.com. Both are web based and need computers with internet access. edutyping requires a subscription and typing.com is free (you need to pay to remove adds but I just used adblocker) We require 7th grade to type about 2 hours a week. 8th grade needs to type for about 2 hours a week for quarter 1 then they have the option of testing out if they meet certain speed and accuracy requirements. Their high school typing credit is based on meeting proficiency standards instead of simply logging hours of practice.
I know this reply is outdated, but this site seems like a good resource and am wanting to get the ball rolling on my part…
