In 1685, John Amos Comenius published this book in Latin and German, urging that “to exercise the senses well about the right perceiving the differences of things, will be to lay the grounds for all wisdom, and all wise discourse, and all discreet actions in one’s course of life.” The book, a sort of encyclopedia of the world, became useful throughout Europe and was translated into a number of langauges. This edition, based on a 1727 English translation, was published in 1887. It contains Latin and English.
