I’m finding these recommendations helpful. I’ve often felt this year that my voice is going into thin air, even though I’m attempting to put into practice all the “tricks” I’ve learned before. One key that I try to remind myself to remember is to make sure I have their attention before I give instruction. However, in getting one child’s attention I usually loose another child’s. It is a struggle not to let nagging and then frustration take over.
I have been using a small carrot and stick incentive for class times. If nothing else, it lets me call attention to fact that they aren’t paying attention (and relieves a little pressure out of my cooker) without as much nagging.
