These posts have prodded my thinking and have helped me work on some of my class time issues. Thank you to all contributors.
One of my class periods tended to end in chaos and a frustrated teacher. There are several reasons this happened, one of which is the very short attention span of several students. They all love to “follow directions” though. So I’ve been able to turn class time into a following directions time with various activities interspersed with word drill and other parts of the class. These parts of the class become part of the following directions activities but we are also doing things like hopping two hops, clapping five times, and sitting down, etc. So now, we end the class in a good frame of mind ready to go to work. Everyone has been a contributor (which is one of my goals for several students) and this teacher is not frustrated or feeling like an incompetent teacher. Thank you again for being part of the answer to prayer.
