Brother Andrew and Bruchko are two I use for devotion/chapel in seventh and eighth grade. I also enjoy books from Andrew Clements especially Frindle and Janitor’s Boy. He stories are mostly about fifth or sixth grade school stories. Keith Robertson has a couple I read to my class: If Wishes Were Horses, and Henry Read Inc. The Warm Summer by Craig Massey. The Mysterious Benedict Society written by Trenton Lee Stewart. RedWall by Brian Jaques. I like to have a variety of styles of stories. I want to give my students a variety of writing that they can enjoy and maybe build their interest in a new genre of reading.
