“What I’ve used a number of times is a set of questions on Handbook for Creative Teaching. This is a handbook, but serves well to introduce the initiate to a broad spectrum of topics related to teaching such as how to teach, how children think, practical preparations, preventive and corrective teaching, and more. The chapters are relatively short, easily readable for a high school student, and quite down-to-earth and practical. A few are a bit dated; these can simply be skipped. [I developed the questions below] for most of ch. 1-65. My student-teachers completed the questions for several chapters per week in preparation for two sit-down half-hour conferences we had weekly.
“I’ve also had student teachers study Gregory’s Seven Laws of Teaching. I have no study guide for that.
“Also, they always do
some classroom observations
some practice teaching.”
This series includes forms designed for both purposes.
